Provides a quick overview of the vast variety of uses of Science Applications International Corporation's (SAIC's) On-Line Interactive Virtual Environment (OLIVE)-based virtual environments: offshore oil platform disaster training; CPR and emergency response; medical simulation training; virtual group therapy; passenger services training; first responder simulation; retail sales training; virtual employee orientation; "Virtually Home" simulation for deployed services members; disaster management and emergency response; virtual conferences and meetings; culture awareness training; virtual emergency operations centers; and border control virtual exercise training. The Highlights video demonstrates multiple presentations, Web-streamed video, live action feeds through the OLIVE Media Dashboard and a variety of pre-developed content, equipment, vehicles, accessories, terrain, and more inside OLIVE. Virtual participants are represented as life-like avatars with realistic, computer-generated, faces, physiques, gestures and behaviors of real, human characters. These Highlights videos were developed using the SAIC OLIVE virtual world technology and software development toolkit. OLIVE provides an immersive, user experience unlike audio and web conferencing systems, and without the cost and need for the specialized and location-based equipment of telepresence solutions.
